Waterproof D-Sub for Space Flight
Sabritec has designed and tested a unique D-sub waterproof and non-waterproof design for space flight applications. This new design is available in a 2, 4, 6, 8 or 16 way contact configuration. The aluminum D-sub housings can be fitted with straight or right angle Quadrax or Twinax contacts for a wide variety of configurations. The right angle PCB mount and the straight cable mount both feature 150 +/- 10% ohm performance using either the Quadrax or Twinax contacts.
The connector in mated pair condition is IP67 compliant and capable of holding 10 psi and submersion in 1 meter of water for 24 hours. The waterproofing comes from a sealed receptacle interface, sealing grommets and unique sealing techniques. The connector receptacle flange contains an encapsulated O-ring that seals the receptacle body to the mounting structure (box or panel).
The entire system can be “daisy chained” for bulkhead pass-through sealing for Gigabit Ethernet Video link backbone architecture. The mounting/connecting hardware can consist of either the familiar jack post and jack screw configuration or fitted with floating pin eyelets and alignment pins for blind mating capability.
